Autism and Thomas

Until recently, we thought that our son, although he loved trains, was not particularly interested in Thomas the Tank Engine, he seemed to almost instinctively know all their names, but had no great interest in them.
That has all changed of late though, and he is into it big time! He watches video's on you tube of children playing, or of the episodes, and then replicates or takes inspiration from what he has seen in order to recreate, or make something similar himself. It's a kind of learned play. But it's giving him a lot of pleasure, and we finally have something we can hook into... playing with Fabian is not the easiest of things to do, but now it has something of a focus.

Most of the brio track we have bought from car boot sales, and many of the trains too. It's so expensive to buy new, but here is one example of a toy that can be passed on and lasts for years and years...

He's madly into the song Accident's happen from Thomas the Tank engine, and here's the little video we made yesterday...
